Lower Apex

Lower Apex cabin is an A frame type building located on Apex mountain. It is located on the main Apex Road beyond the turn off to the Apex ski hill. It is ideally suited for cross-country and down hill skiing, snow shoeing and hiking. Large A-frame cabin, no running water, (bring your own) heating wood stove, wood provided, propane cook stove, electric lighting, outdoor toilet with electric light, 3 hide-a-beds and a large upstairs area for approximately 20 youths with sleeping bags.

Scouting fee is $75 per weekend. Other groups $75 per day.

 

Upper Apex

Upper Apex is a log building located in the Apex recreation area. It is located on the southwest side of Beaconsfield Mountain. It is ideally suited for winter activities such as cross-country and down hill skiing and snow shoeing. It can be reached by proceeding uphill from the old Apex ski lodge or by chairlift in the main ski area. The facility is a large log building, no running water (bring your own) heated by wood stove, (wood provided), wood stove for cooking, lantern lighting (bring your own lantern) outdoor toilet. The building accommodates approximately 20 people. There is a chain across the road to this cabin. To get a key or information about this stop at the garage in the resort area and they will either lend you a key or tell you an alternate way to get to the cabin.

Scouting fee is $40 per weekend. Other groups $40 per day.

 

Camp Boyle - Summerland, B. C.

The whole camp sleeps 76 people, with more people camping in their own tents, campers,

etc. The main building accommodates 120 people for eating or meetings. This building contains a large kitchen with 2 propane restaurant type cooking stoves which can be divided off from the eating area. Men’s and women’s washrooms and showers are attached to the main building. A wood stove heats the building. The two sleeping units have electric heat and can sleep 50 people in bunks. There is a campfire area adjacent to the main building with bench seating. There are 25 campsites north of this building for tenting or self contained recreation vehicles.

The Hilton

The Hilton or Red Robin building is a modern self-contained unit. It accommodates 18-20 people. There are bunks and couches, a bathroom with a shower and a complete kitchen with electric range, fridge, pots, pans etc. Electrically heated and by wood stove if preferred. This building has a large covered area as part of the building and can be used for crafts, games, etc.. There is a large field adjacent to the building and a camp fire area.

Rover Cabin

Rover Cabin south end of property. This is a small log building, which can sleep 6 people in bunks. It is heated by wood stove, has electric lighting, no running water and outdoor toilets. The rates are as follows:

Main building and bunkhouse Scouting $125.00 per weekend Others $125 per day .

The Hilton Scouting $75.00 per weekend, others $75.00 per day .

Rover Cabin - Scouting $10.00 per weekend, others $10.00 per day

 

Camp Seacrest

Camp Seacrest is a camping facility located in the Oliver area. It is available for Scout groups and outside groups. Seacrest consists of 40 acres. It is located at the intersection of the road leading south from the White Lake Observatory and the road leading up from highway 97 (Covert Ranch sign) just north of Oliver. The facility consists of a large shelter (20 feet by 40 feet) running water to camp sites, (water is tested) Outdoor toilets. For winter camping the water is shut off the end of September and you must bring your own. There is some wood for campfires but it is a good idea to bring some along just in case more is needed. This area is good for large group camping as it has plenty of open space and rolling hills. There is good fishing at Sawmill Lake close by.

Fee is $50 per weekend for Scouting; other groups $50 per day.

Keys must be picked up from the home of Greta Rae at 1250 Kensington Street, Penticton, B. C., phone (250) 492-8937. Out of town people should phone first for an alternate key pick up area in a non-residential area. (Business place that is easier to find.
